Our Lakeview Retreats are the last weekend in April each year. Below is a brief look at our most recent retreat of April 22-24. Hopefully this will give you an idea of what to expect

Dr. Elijah Stansell teaches and preaches. Here he has laid out God's "Expectancy Bar" for His disciples.
Dr. Stansell wraps up his 3-part message on

being a witness for God.

Dr. Keith Whittaker delivers the Keynote address.
The attendance was light, but attentive.
We even had as many as three song leaders.
President Kenneth Tielke leads the open

meeting

Ricky Tate leads us in prayer

Below are photos from a past retreat

Check-in begins around 3:00pm on Friday afternoon with the same group of people that file for an extension on their income tax and file it late, filling out their registration form at the door. Well, that won't be happening in the future. Lakeview is now requiring that we submit a list of our attendees and where they will be staying and how many meals they plan to eat at least 14-days in advance. So, there will be no more late registrations. If you miss the deadline, you can attend the meetings as a walk-in for a fee of $15. You will not be served any meals or provided any housing.

The first event on the schedule after the evening meal, at the beautiful Peace Chapel, was the first of three messages delivered by our key-note speaker. This Spring we were blessed to have Rev. Kenneth R. Livingston of St. Paul's UMC in Huntsville, Texas. Rev. Livingston was selected as small church "Pastor of the Year" at last year's Annual Conference. Rev. Livingston demonstrated his dynamic speaking talents to the men of the Texas Conference as he delivered three engaging messages over the weekend.

Music for the weekend was lead by Terry Bebermeyer of Friendswood UMC. It is truly a unique experience to hear 120 men singing hymns and praise songs together. There is just something different about the sound. When you get all men together they really sing out. It's like one is trying to be heard over the other one and it gets loud. If you have ever been to one of these events you know what I mean. We were blessed on Saturday with a special song from Rev. John Warren, who also happens to be pastor of Jewett UMC last year's Annual Conference Small Church of the Year. I know everyone has heard the Prayer of Jabez. Well, this was the Song of Jabez, and it was beautiful.

There is time on Friday Evening and Saturday afternoon for reflective moments, and small share groups.

And if you are a domino player there is usually time for that as well. However, it's not your ordinary dominoes. When you go to retreat at Lakeview you'll learn a new game that some call Collin's Dominoes after the Collins United Methodist Men that came up with this game. It is a spin-off of Chicken-foot, but considerably more challenging. And, there are some people around that take their dominoes very seriously. Let me assure you this table is surrounded by serious players.

And, this Jewett bunch below are pretty serious too, so come prepared for some tough competition.

If you would like to join us on our next retreat, click over to the registration page, fill out the form, print it out, and mail it along with your check. Trust me you will not regret the time you spend there. You will be blessed! If you would like to learn more about Lakeview and the accommodations there click here to go to there website.
